RTI changed my life. Not only did I get to spend 20 weeks learning the secrets behind the medium I love, but the knowledge and opportunities I gained from RTI were pivotal to getting me a job in radio, less than two months after graduation. I’m now afternoons jock and copywriter at Magic FM Spencer Gulf and not missing that retail job at all.
I had been job hopping most of my adult life before I decided to study at the Radio Training Institute. Now I’ve been doing breakfast radio for 5 years. I love it, it’s my dream job, and I’m living my dream. None of it happens without the Radio Training Institute
The Radio Training Institute has supported my radio journey from the get-go. RTI is the best decision I’ve made for my career!
The buzz I got from doing my first break on day 1 of class is unforgettable. From that moment, I knew I was in the right place
I studied the Advanced Radio Course in 2015, and found it to be not only the most comprehensive way of learning the broad scope of radio, but also a fantastic way to connect with the industry and peers.
Now working full time as a creative writer/announcer, what I learned at RTI has formed the basis of everything I now do
RTI has given me the skills I need to succeed in the radio industry, the knowledge I’ve gained and the connections I’ve made will be invaluable going forward. I couldn’t be more thankful to the team at RTI
RTI was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life! They the sole reason I’ve been successful in finding employment so quickly. It’s like your own home away from home and everyone is one big family. Resourceful, organised and caring are only a few words to describe RTI! Oh and did I mention awesome?
Music has always been the bread to my butter, and having a career in radio was something I always dreamed of. Doing this has literally changed my life. The school is one of a kind, with their highly professional, but friendly approach to learning. At the moment, I am Breakfast Announcer at Southern Cross Austereo’s HOT FM Townsville. RTI took me on a wild journey of learning, creating, and growing.
After many years of working jobs that I had no interest in pursuing further, I decided to try the Intro to Radio course at the Radio Training institute.
I now work at Fox FM in Street Team and a Panel Operator, with many goals & aspirations to pursue in the radio world & I couldn’t be happier with how RTI has helped me move my work & job history into a rewarding career.
It gives you a sound knowledge of radio. Not to mention the ongoing support you receive and the work experience.
The studio and facilities were available beyond the hours of the course, which made it helpful for someone like me, who lives 5 hours away from Melbourne.
I now work for Southern Cross Austereo at Star FM/The River in Albury in Promotions and Announcing. Without RTI I would definitely not be in a position to enter the radio industry.
A few months later here I am in Geraldton, WA, hosting the afternoon shift at Spirit FM!
RTI was the best thing I did for my career, I wish I hadn’t thought about it for so long, but hey I’m here now.
Since I was six I have dreamed of being a radio announcer. I hit a point in my life where I decided to do what I have always wanted to do.
I applied to RTI and loved it!
Now I am an announcer at Southern Cross Austero’s Hot 100.5 FM
Radio’s a blast – you never know where you’ll end up. I now wake up at “stupido’ clock” to report on traffic from 1000 feet for the Today show on Channel 9 and for radio.
The teachers had extensive skills and experience in the industry, using their radio contacts to help me obtain my first job at Sun FM in Shepparton. Currently, I am Program Director at Southern Cross Austereo’s, 92.9FM Perth.
From there I furthered my career as a Weekend/Late Nights Announcer at 2DAYFM Sydney and also as a Producer of the HOT 30 Nationwide. My radio path has progressed to working as Assistant Music Director NOVA 100 Melbourne, Music Director at NOVA 919 Adelaide, Assistant Content Director 92.9 Perth, Music Director/Operations Manager at FOX FM, Melbourne and currently where I am today, back at 92.9FM Perth, as Program Director.
Without a doubt, RTI has opened doors to positions I would otherwise have been excluded from applying for.
More than just a course; it gave me a great insight into the media industry. It’s refreshing to be able to work hands-on in a studio. RTI gave me practical skills, knowledge and confidence allowing me to land a Producing and Announcing role at 3CS / MIXX FM Colac.

Not even halfway through my first night of the course I knew this was the career for me. Today, I’m an announcer on the Triple M network.
I had done lots of community radio but noticed there was a big step up to commercial radio.
After the course, I moved to Phuket & hosted the Breakfast Show on the English language station, LIVE 89.5.
Now Breakfast Announcer at Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit 104.7 in Canberra.
You don’t just sit in a classroom and learn about the industry, you’re constantly immersed in it!
Currently one “half” of ARN’s The Thinkergirls, Broadcast across KIIS network every weeknight.
I couldn’t be happier right now and I owe my start to RTI. Just a word of warning…you’ll find yourself hooked on the industry from the first session!
It was a life-changing experience. The thing that impressed (and shocked!) me the most was you’re never forgotten, the team support you all the way.
After my course I went back to media and communications. After a few years I quit my job and decided to have a real crack at getting into radio. RTI set me up doing as much work experience as possible. During this time I was lucky enough to be offered a position in Albury with Southern Cross Austereo.
In the space of just five months, I’ve gone from working in call centres to being a part of the fantastic radio industry!
RTI organised work experience for me, where I was able to put my skills into practice in a real-life situation. I still can’t believe that I’ve got a job in radio!
Currently, I’m Program Director at 3CS/MIXX FM, Colac and loving it.
Ask as many questions as you can, the lecturers are a wealth of knowledge.
RTI’s help didn’t stop once my course finished, Heidi sent me emails when jobs were available, made the studio available, helped me with cover letters, and kept me on track when I’d have an “it’s never going to happen for me!” moment. My first job was in Breakfast in Broome WA. Currently I am a Breakfast Announcer at Star FM Mildura. I wouldn’t be in this job without the help from RTI.
