Toni Tenaglia

‘Jock Of All Trades’ is how Toni often refers to herself. You name it, she’s probably done it within the industry.

She skipped regional and country radio and landed her first on air gig with 3UZ as overnight announcer and eventually was made Music Director. At the age of 19 she was the youngest metropolitan Music Director in the country. She progressed very quickly in her career doing stints in Canberra and Hobart, where she was part of the launch team for TTT-FM (Hobart), landing another first as the first female to host a drive shift on FM.

After a couple of years Toni moved to Adelaide to work at SAFM where she did every shift on the station – not at the same time. She started out as late night announcer and progressed her way through to anchoring the breakfast show with Adam Hills. The pair got within .5% of knocking off the number 1 breakfast show in Adelaide, which had held its reign for 10 years.

Toni’s career has seen her in the simultaneous roles of on air announcer and Music Director at nearly every station she has worked at, and over the years she has trained and developed people like Dave Cameron, Shaun Gough, John Bleby and Jamie Chaux who have all progressed to executive roles within Southern Cross Austereo.

She has worked overseas in Oxford, England at Jack FM & Passion 107.9, and in Dublin, Ireland as Music Director and Content Director of 98FM.

In her career she has launched 3 radio stations, 2 in Australia and 1 in Ireland, and was part of the rebrand of SAFM in the 90’s and, more recently, KIIS 101.1 in Melbourne.
